Blair RUSHes to Tour win at Eriez!

Blair also scores in Super Lates, McGee, Reinwald, Kennerknecht, and Proper also add wins!

Hammett, PA (July 30, 2017): The RUSH Crate Late Model Tour made a visit to Eriez with 31 racers making the tow to race for $2000 to win. Max Blair turned in the fastest time at 16.129 seconds with Russell King second at 16.233. At the end of the thirty lap contest it was Blair winning with King second, withstanding a late race charge from defending Eriez champion Jason Genco. In other feature action Blair took over at the front of the pack at lap seven and went on to win his second Plyler Entry Systems Super Late Model feature of the season. It was the second time Blair had performed the “Nightly Double”, the first coming on July 16. Mike McGee won his second Ran-Den Excavating E-Mod feature the season while Eric Reinwald made his first visit the season to the Conway & O’Malley Tires & Service Economod Winner’s Circle in 2017. Jimmy Kennerknecht also made his first stop in the Nelson Lynwood Nursery Street Stock Victory Lane at Eriez this summer. For Andy Proper, it was win number two this year at Eriez.

The Ran-Den Excavating E-Mods were the first feature of the evening with Mike McGee and David Scott on the front row. McGee, a winner earlier this season, jumped out to the early lead with John Boyd coming to second on lap two. Billy Henry spun in turn two at lap three, slowing the race under yellow. McGee again led with Boyd second and Gary Eicher getting by Scott for third. Eicher came to second at lap six with Joel Watson fourth. Troy Johnson was fifth at halfway. McGee went on to the win with Eicher second, Boyd third, Watson fourth, and Johnson fifth.

Kyle Adkins and Roger Hall, brought the Challenger feature to green with Hall leading Dylan Greene at lap three. Andy Proper was second at lap five and went by Hall for the lead on lap seven then on to the win, his second of the season over Roger Hall, Dylan Greene, Skip Jackson, and Kyle Adkins.

Chad Wright and Max Blair, both former Eriez track Champions, brought the RUSH Touring Series Bonnell’s Collision Center Crate Late Models to green with Matt Latta and Russell King in row two. Wright quickly went to the high side and led lap one. Blair got next to Wright at lap five and then to the lead at six complete. Blair was into lapped traffic at lap eight. Genco and King were third and fourth at halfway with Bryce Davis fifth. Wright fought back and was next to the leader at the end of eighteen laps when Hunter Hulley spun in turn one. Blair and Wright brought the field back to green with King coming by Wright to grab second at nineteen. Fifth-running Matt Latta spun in heavy traffic at 21 complete but all drivers got by safely. Blair owned a two length lead on the first lap back to green with King trying to get by on the outside. Wright and King were side by side at the line with five to go then King moved low, making contact with Wright, with the former champion then spinning. Wright exited his car and was disqualified as a result. Genco got next to King at the green but fell back at the end of the lap. With the white flag flying Blair had a ten length lead over King with Genco still challenging. King wound up second with Genco third, Bryce Davis fourth, and John Waters fifth.

Eric Reinwald and Mitchell Wright were the front row for the Conway & O’Malley Tire & Service Economod feature with Reinwald leading the way through two laps when Geoff Conn came to a halt at the pit gate. Justin Sax got sideways in turn two on the restart and was hit before he could straighten it out, slowing the race before another lap. Bobby Vogt was second at the end of three. Several cars got together in turn four with Ashley Rogers and Jason Brightman coming to a stop for yellow number three. Matt Alexander was also involved but kept going, even with right side damage, so was restored to his position in the running order. Reinwald was the leader again with Wright and Vogt side by side for second until lap eight when Wright had the spot as Brightman again spun, this time in two. At eleven Wright was trying for the lead on the outside but slipped back allowing Vogt to hold the spot at twelve. As the field was coming to the white flag Wright got too high in turn four, nearly hitting the wall and coming to a stop. Dustin Eckman and Vogt ran side by side for second most of the final lap with Eckman getting the spot at the checkers. Vogt was third with Ty Rhoades fourth and Mike Boyd fifth.

The Plyler Entry Systems Super Late Models were brought to green by Doug Eck and Dave Hess Jr. Eck led the first three laps before giving way to Hess Jr. Sixth starting Max Blair methodically came through the field to second at six laps and was the leader at seven. Steve Kania rolled to a stop at seven with a flat tire, slowing the race for the first time. Under the yellow, Kania rejoined the field. Darrell Bossard got by Hess at nine laps in for second. At halfway Blair had a half straight lead over Bossard. Hess, Eck and Jake Finnerty filled out the top five. John Lacki spun in turn four with ten to go for the second caution. Eck and Hess were even at the end of sixteen with Eck holding second a lap later. With five to go Blair was again half a straight in the lead. Hess had second by a nose at the white flag and had it by two lengths at the checkers. Oakes was fourth and Finnerty fifth.

The night -capper was the Nelson Lynwood Nursery Street Stock feature with Don McGuire and Jimmy Kennerknecht bringing the field to green. McGuire led from the start, then Kennerknecht took over on lap three. At halfway it was Kennerknecht , Chris McGuire, Don McGuire, John Boardman, and Brad Church. Darrin Waldron spun in turn four with six to go, eliminating Kennerknecht’s lead. Kennerknecht stayed on the bottom while Chris McGuire used the high side slowly closing the gap until McGuire did a “half spin” in turn one allowing Kennerknecht to again open his lead. At the checkers it was Kennerknecht, Chris McGuire, Don McGuire, John Boardman, and Gary Fisher.
