Hammett, PA (May 24, 2018): For the fourth time in 2018, Eriez Speedway will attempt to open for the season on May 27. The featured class will be the Big Block Modified Tour for their second event of the season. In the Modified Tour season opening event Erick Rudolph was the victor at Tyler County Speedway in West Virginia. Other Big Block Modified Stars expected to be in contention include Jeremiah Shingledecker, Phil Vigneri III, Rex King Jr, Dave Murdick, Michael Maresca, Tyler Williams, Brad Rapp, Jim Rasey, and Garrett Krummert. 25 to 35 of the best Big Block Modified drivers in the northeast are expected to vie for the win.

Along with the Modified Tour the Plyler Overhead Door Super Late Models will take to the track with defending champion Dave Hess Jr leading the charge. Max Blair, Greg Oakes, Jake Finnerty, Chad Wright, and Darrell Bossard are all expected to attempt to wrest championship honors from Hess. Former champions Chris Hackett and Bump Hedman are also likely to be in contention for the title. Former Street Stock Champion Brandon Groters will be in a Super Late Model this season and drivers Rob Blair & Mike Knight are rumored to be returning.

2017 Champion Bonnell Collision Service RUSH Crate Late Models Champion Mike Knight, 2016 Champion Jason Genco, as well as former champions Kyle Zimmerman and Darrell Bossard and others contesting for the win, fighting for the lead every inch of the way, will likely include Max Blair, Scott Gurdak, John Waters, Dave Lyon, Bruce Hordusky, Khole Wanzer, Andy Boozel, and others. Also expected to be in contention for a win will be former Challenger champion Andy Proper, who reportedly is moving up to RUSH Crate racing this summer. That’s a veritable “who’s who” of local crate racing!

The Ran Den Excavating E-Mods will be in competition with defending champion Joel Watson, a four-time winner, back to try for yet another championship mantle. Michael McGee, John Boyd, and Gary Eicher, all winners in 2017, will battle him every lap to take over at the top of the standings.

Defending champion Dustin Eckman has retired from the Johnson’s Car Care Economods but three time 2017 winner Brandon Blackshear, Mitchell Wright, winner of two features in a row in ’17, Bobby Vogt, Ty Rhodes, Eric Reinwald, Kyle Miller, and Steve Simon, all single winners last season, we be battling every week for the honor of taking over as Champion.

Chris McGuire prevailed in the Nelson-Lynwood Nursery Street Stocks points battle last summer over Don McGuire, who has announced his retirement from racing, John Boardman, Gary Fisher, Jimmy Kennerknecht (another former champion), Westley McCray, and Bill Applebee. All of the above can win on any given night and will be in the Championship battle all year long.

Andy Proper dominated the points chase last summer in the Niemeyer’s Garage Super Challenger Division for front wheel drive cars but announced he will be moving up to the RUSH Crate Late Models this summer. That will leave the championship wide open with Chris Horton, the 2017 runner-up, looking very strong to make a run for the title this summer. Skip Jackson, Aaron Marcy, Dylan Greene, and Roger Hall all are capable of being at the pinnacle of the division on any given Sunday. Less than 200 points separated sixth from second in the final rundown of 2017. The rest of the top ten included Jessica Harvey, Jeff Nunemaker, Spencer Marcy, and Davey Lowe.
